How much cash is stuck waiting to fund?
Estimate
You always have about $160,000 sitting with finance companies, costing about $1,070 a month.
How we estimate: deals a month × average amount × business days to fund ÷ 21 business days in a month. The cost is that amount at your rate per year, ÷ 12. Your real numbers depend on your deals and your lender’s terms.
Want to see which of those deals are late, and which finance company is dragging? That’s what Docket Auto does: every unpaid deal on one screen. Add a deal in ten seconds.
What is a contract in transit?
A deal you’ve signed and delivered while the finance company hasn’t paid you yet. Until it funds, the money is owed to you, but you can’t use it.
Why there’s always money waiting
New deals go out while earlier ones fund, so on an ordinary day part of your month’s sales is always sitting with finance companies. The longer they take to fund, the bigger that amount, and it costs you through your floor plan, your line of credit, or the next car you can’t buy yet.
